WISH (I) WAS HERE - NY & LONDON FASHION WEEK PICKS
Oh what I wouldn't give to hop on a plane and make my attendee debut at New York Fashion Week this year. Kicking off last week (2/10) the world renown event has been flooding each and every social media platform I check daily and it's DRIVIN ME CRAZAY! And let's not forget London Fashion Week. LFW began just a few hours ago, yet I'm already ogling pics from some of my favorite designers' showcases. Alas, I am sitting here in Seattle, far away from the flashing lights and furry mule slides. From miles and miles away I'll share with you my very favorite NYFW and LFW looks so far. Sit back and enjoy ;)
My very first pick is UK designer Charlotte Simone. We all know FLAIR is big this season - and has been goin strong for quite a while! Pins, patches, badges, and FUR bobbles and add-ons. Charlotte Simone's designs are cheeky yet smart - fun yet polished accessories for the kooky yet refined lady. And LOOK at those Adidas colab sneakers. Help me. CS just launched a line of outerwear and I can't get enough.
My next pick is the Outdoor Voices X APC Colab. You know by now that we love New York lifestyle/gear brand OV. And with an already strong obsession for French label APC, the marriage of the two is almost too much for me to handle.

THIS. COLLECTION'S. STYLING. Have you heard of Brother Vellies yet?! African artisan inspired and crafted footwear from Toronto designer Aurora James. Socially responsible and so, so beautiful. Natural, organic influence meets mod cool.

Sadie Williams collection is 70's/sportswear meets future/space. Sounds pretty good, amirite?
Typical Freaks is the best. Graphic, raver, throwback, and a little bit punk rock, DIY. The ever popular neoprene jacket vibe gets a chenille-like patch update.
Caitlin Charles-Jones blends comfy and graphic with adventurous silhouettes. Perfect for playing with proportion and mixing/matching. The tones and textures are beautiful!
My last two picks combine serene luxury with a sportswear twist. I think I have a theme going here? Dreamy silks and shiny, delicate details combined with flowy, causual, yet sophstacted shapes. Take a gander at Public School and Calvin Klein's icy chill/ fantasy inspired looks.
Well, that's all folks! Hope you've enjoyed my (very brief, in the grand scheme of things) roundup. Let us know your FW faves! We can long in fashion envy/solidarity. And until I can actually attend (ANY) Fashion Week one day, I'll just keep dreaming/social media/ internet stalking/drooling
Happy weekend!

ERIN'S PICKS: FALL FAVORITES
October is my favorite month. For one, October means it's Halloween time! Also, it's the first month where I can really start to feel the season change (which means it's time to break out my cold weather clothes.) As someone who relies heavily on layering to style almost all of my outfits, it's a relief when the crisp weather starts to strike. This means I can stop wearing whatever confused summer outfits I've thrown together (I'm calling my summer aesthetic poolside dad) and really start wearing the cozy/more elaborate pieces that I love! We've got some awesome fall pieces in the shop that I've been dying to sport and now is the time!
I believe my style oscillates between laid back/minimal and quirky/fashion conscious. I find the pieces that I am usually drawn towards a) must be cozy b) must be versatile enough to pair with either an easygoing outfit or a more *showstopping* getup c) must be either oversized or perfect for playing with proportions/layering. This outfit checks off all my boxes. I am OBSESSED with this BLQ camo coat. I knew the moment we got it in the shop I had to have it. The camo fleece textile with the contrast black vegan suede, exposed zipper, and oversized collar make it the perfect, unexpected piece. I throw it over everything. I also love this Knot Sisters dress. I usually don't go for body con, the but ribbed texture with the balance of the high neck and the slightly longer hem (it's all about balance) really makes it the perfect all purpose dress.
Lately I've been loving the idea of monochromatic outfits. Picking pieces of the same color/tone and using texture, weight, length, and fit to create interest in your outfit is one of my favorite trends right now. We in the shop are always dying over our latest Achro Brand pieces and these two are no exception. We can't keep this sweater on the shelves and I never want to take it off. The high neck, oversized sleeves, and incredible texture take it from your average cozy pullover to your fall MUST HAVE. I paired it with this amazing WOOL Achro wrap skirt. I want to wear this skirt with every outfit. The details are incredible and it is so versatile and comfortable, laid back yet innovative. I think next I'll pair it with a collared shirt, graphic pullover fleece, and some low profile sneakers :)
Fun Fashion Tip: If you're low maintenance when it comes to the hairdo department (gulity) October is the perfect month for the every-outfit beanie. I'm obsessed with pom poms and this does not stop at hats. We've got an array of colors in the shop (even some with fur poms!) I took home an oversized black pom beanie and have yet to take it off.
October in Seattle means THE RAIN IS HERE TO STAY! Being a Seattleite usually means having a love/hate relationship with the familiar showers, but I'm not even kidding when I say this: having a Stutterheim in my closet makes me stoked to see downfall on the weather forecast. Before I picked up my Stutterheim I looked like a sad camping dad in my hiking jacket whenever precipitation hit. Now rain means my outfit is going to be even snazzier because I can throw this guy on. They're all PVC coated cotton, designed in Sweden and handmade in Poland. With double welded seams, no rain's getting through this baby! We always have these jackets in a variety of colors and styles (for men and women!) so choosing your favorite is on you :) The most practical fashion choice you can make. I paired my coat with my favorite One Teaspoon merino wool slouch pants.
Words cannot describe how excited I am to finally don my autumn favorites. I've picked up so many great pieces at the shop over time that it was hard to even begin to decide what to share for this season. The great part is that we're always getting in new styles! As a person with a coat/sweater passion, it's hard for me to control myself. But you don't have to :) However you do fall, come down to the shop and we'll hook you up. Now go put on your cold weather faves and enjoy that pumpkin spice latte.

HANNAH'S PICKS: JUST FEMALE
Most of the time I just want to dress like Pernille Teisbaek. I mean, I never thought I wanted to rock a over-sized blouses with knee length sleeves until Teisbaek made it look amazing. And Swede Columbine Smille? Don't even get me started on her all black ensembles that make my wardrobe hurt. Those Scandinavian ladies (along with a hand full more) own a sidewalk when it comes to street style and cool girl trends. There's definitely something to say about Scandinavian aesthetic and design and our new line Just Female is no exception. I love how Just female takes on various fashion trends and incorporates them with clean, minimal but unique aesthetic. They have a strict quality over quantity rule which translates into great materials that are practical without taking away from the design. For them, there's no such thing as a plain black cardigan. It will have extra textured details, interesting lines and of course be made up of something that feels like heaven, making it impossible not to add to your closet.
This brand isn't our first Scandinavian designer and hopefully won't be our last. When we got our Stutterheim raincoats I had to take some serious time to reflect on which one would come home with me. I just can't get enough of those minimal, monochrome vibes. It seems to be catching too. As we're in the midst of Fashion Weeks, lines are following suit after those cold-climate designers. And, although New York and Paris Fashion weeks will always reign supreme, Copenhagen and Stockholm Fashion weeks have turned heads and rarely disappoint. With brands like Marie Ganni, Wood Wood, COS, Acne, Mads Norgard, Whryd, Samsoe & Samsoe, (the list could go on and on), its hard not to take notice - they storm the way in strong design and minimal statement. I highly recommend doing a good stalking of some Scandinavian street style celebs and brands. I do it on a daily basis probably. Or, better yet, come in and check out some of the brands for yourself. We can gab about how much we love them.
